Deputy Associate Administrator for Regulatory and Legislative Operations The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), an Operating Administration under the U.S. Department of Transportation, was created to promote and enforce safety throughout the U.S. railroad system, consolidate Federal financial support for rail transportation, and support research and development to benefit rail transportation for passengers, railroad employees and the general public. In a recent Government-wide survey, FRA was ranked by its employees as one of the best places to work in the Federal Government. FRA is currently seeking an energetic individual to join our management team to serve as the Deputy Associate Administrator for Regulatory and Legislative Operations, a career position in the Senior Executive Service. This individual will be responsible for providing technical expertise in railroad safety regulatory and legislative issues, and for translating technical findings into practical rail safety improvement programs and governmental action plans. The executive will provide oversight and guidance in the development of standards and procedures, and formulate strategies to obtain industry compliance in order to improve and maintain safety of freight and passengers on the Nation’s railroads. The programs managed require a high degree of interface with diverse decision-making elements within the Executive and Legislative branches of the Federal Government, as well as within the rail and intercity ground transportation communities. The individual selected for this position will have a direct impact on FRA’s ability to meet its strategic goals and the strategic goals of the U.S. Department of Transportation. Visit FRA’s website www.fra.dot.gov/us/jobs or USAJOBS www.usajobs.opm.gov for a complete description of the duties, qualification requirements and application procedures or contact Nancy Coyle at (202) 493-6119 or email at nancy.coyle@dot.gov. |
